Who We Are
Sugee’s Science Tutoring provides online GCSE and A-Level Science tuition across the UK. We are the data controller responsible for your personal information. You can contact us at hello@sugeessciencetutoring.co.uk
Information We Collect
We may collect parent/guardian details (name, email, phone), student details (name, school, year group, subjects, exam board, working and target grades), samples of student work, referral information, and any additional information you choose to provide.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to respond to enquiries, assess programme suitability, organise groups, communicate with parents and students about lessons, monitor progress, provide educational resources, including lesson recordings where applicable, and improve our services. We never sell your personal information.
Our Legal Basis for Processing
We only process personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so. This includes the performance of our contract with you to deliver lessons and related services; our legitimate interests, such as responding to enquiries, organising groups, and improving our services; compliance with a legal obligation, such as safeguarding and financial record-keeping; and your consent where it is required, for example, for certain communications. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
Payments
Monthly lesson fees are collected securely using GoCardless under the Direct Debit Guarantee. Sugee’s Science Tutoring does not store or have access to your bank account details. Payment information is processed securely by GoCardless in accordance with its privacy policy.
Online Lessons and Lesson Recordings
Some online lessons may be recorded to support students who miss lessons or wish to revisit content. Recordings are only shared with students in the relevant teaching group and are for educational use only. Recordings must not be downloaded, copied, edited, shared, uploaded to social media, or distributed. Students and parents must not record lessons, take screenshots, or photographs without prior written permission from Sugee’s Science Tutoring.
Student Privacy During Lessons
Students are expected to respect the privacy of others by not recording lessons, taking screenshots, sharing Zoom links, or sharing another student's personal information. Respectful behaviour is expected at all times.
Communications
We communicate with parents and students by email and, where relevant, through a class WhatsApp group. Within the group, phone numbers are kept private and hidden from other members. We will only send information relevant to our service, such as lesson updates, assessments, and programme news, and you can opt out of non-essential messages at any time. We do not send unsolicited marketing.
How Your Information Is Stored
Information is securely stored using Google Workspace and other secure business systems, with access restricted to authorised personnel.
How Long We Keep Your Information
Enquiry information is generally retained for up to 12 months. Student records may be retained for up to 6 years where necessary for legal and administrative purposes.
Sharing Your Information
Information is only shared where required by law, to safeguard a child, or with trusted service providers such as Zoom, Google Workspace, and GoCardless where necessary to deliver our services.
International Transfers
Some of our service providers, such as Zoom and Google, may process information on servers outside the UK. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information remains protected by appropriate safeguards.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a copy of your personal information by contacting us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Our website may use essential cookies so that it functions correctly. Where we use non-essential cookies or analytics to understand how the site is used, we will ask for your consent. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings.

Children's Privacy
Our lessons are for school-age students, so we work closely with parents and guardians. Enquiries and registrations should be completed by a parent or legal guardian, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without parental involvement.
